Committed to supporting democracy, freedom
and justice, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) has been active in Jordan and the Near and Middle East Region
for more than 20 years. As one of the largest political foundations in Germany, KAS’ work in the field of social and
economic politics aims at contributing to stronger integration and networking
between Germany and Jordan as well as the countries of the
Near East Region on the one hand, and promoting Euro-Arab Dialogue on the
other. Dedicated to the legacy of the first German Federal Chancellor Konrad
Adenauer, the foundation works together with partners on a national and
regional level in order to strengthen:
- Democracy and the Rule of Law
- Development of a Free and Social
Economic Order
- Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue and

Political, social and economic developments have long stopped being confined to national
borders but are per se trans-national, regional and global: Therefore, the
Amman Office of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, together with its partners, has given
top priority to observe, analyze and promote regional und national development
cooperation. By highlighting and publishing national projects and best
practices that could serve as models for the whole region, we would like to
encourage more exchange on a regional basis. The key motto: Thinking globally
and acting locally. This is done in the framework of conferences, meetings,
workshops, research studies, and information programs in Germany and Europe, as well as granting scholarships
to specially gifted students.
Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung operates according to
the principle of partnership, in line with our ethical beliefs and
political guidelines: Innovative reforms and new ideas can only take
sustainable roots if they are carried on and shaped by social decision-makers
and the people concerned. Therefore, beside the ideas, the partners take centre
stage. Together with our partners, programs are designed, planned, conducted
and evaluated. Partners could be ministries, parliaments, universities,
think-tanks, NGOs, employers associations, media and political parties.

Encouraging youth to participate in shaping
their own future, to develop their social and intellectual skills through
voluntary work and planning youth projects in participatory workshops is one of
the essential working fields of KAF in Jordan, considering the fact that 75% of
the population is under 30 years of age. The Foundation organizes youth
meetings and annual youth forums to give youth a platform to discuss their
needs and concerns and to get them engaged in the process of finding solutions.
Encouraging youth to organize their own activities, and supporting them in
their endeavours has led to the creation of the interactive website www.jordanyouth.org and contributes to a
youth culture of dialogue, equality, social commitment and self-help in all sectors
of society.
