"Jordan Youth Forum" aims at increasing youth participation in civil society.Active male and female Jordanians aged 18-32 from
diverse backgrounds are encouraged to participate in voluntary work, collective
planning, and self-organized youth workshops. Thus, young Jordanians develop
their capacity to initiate and participate in self-help projects, and create an
effective network of governmental & non-governmental organizations for the
benefit of other Jordanian Youth.
Working in groups is usually facilitated by participants
themselves with the help of a general moderator. Decision-making goes through a
process of interactive brain-storming, structured discussions, and voting for
general agreement.They all share a
commitment to make a difference.
Creativity, dedication and hard work, alongside friendship and caring are the main
characteristics that can be felt and seen during the meetings of this youth
forum. Jordanian youth working in a friendly atmosphere share their experiences
and give room for each individual’s creativity and input.
From the beginning, young Jordanians proved that they are able to carry out a series
of successful events that help solve problems facing youth. Through a youth and
to youth approach each one contributes ideas, work and voluntary work
experience and contacts. Commitment and dedication has led involved youth to
plan and organize a series of major youth events.
Coming from different backgrounds, members of the youth committees vary in their
education and experience. Optimizing such diversity, by distributing tasks
among members according to their expertise and interests ensures quality events
with attention to details.
To avoid duplication of work and wasted efforts, the JYF is networking with around
40 associations working with youth and over 300 active volunteers from around
the Kingdom.
Sharing knowledge, experience and creating a structured youth network of committed
volunteers gives young Jordanians hope and encouragement to become active
citizens in their communities and participate in developing their society, and
achieving the change they want.
Based on this understanding, the Forum objectives were collectively developed, and committed
Jordanian youth founded the National Forum for Youth and Culture, registered
with the Ministry of Culture on February 29th,
2004.
